Sticker I Spy

My kids have TONS of stickers!  They love getting them, but for some reason they don't like using them, so we have an entire shoe box tote full of stickers.  So, I thought I'd put some of these stickers to good use and made I Spy Sticker pages.

They were really simple to put together.  I took a piece of cardstock and covered it in stickers.  I used a few big ones, filled in a majority of the space with small to medium sized stickers, then filled in the small spots with those really tiny sticker chart stickers.  There are easily over 100 stickers on the page. 

I slipped the cardstock into a page protector.  I printed a page that had a list of all the stickers that were on the page and slipped it in the page protector behind the sticker page.  This would be a great little game to keep in the car.  The older kids can read their list on the back to find things on their own.  Or the kids can look at each other's sticker page and tell the other what to find.

Love Knot

My husband and I celebrated 11 years of marriage this year.  When we got married our pastor surprised us with this love knot, a symbol of our marriage.  He took two pieces of string, tied them together and reminded us that no matter how tough things got, the more we might try to pull away from one another, the stronger the knot became.  It was a really sweet token and we've had it tucked away ever since.

I wanted to display the knot in a shadowbox and found the perfect quote to go along with it - "Chains do not hold a marriage together.  It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads, which sew people together through the years."

I pinned some red burlap on the display board and displayed the knot in the shape of a heart.  I printed the quote on some cardstock and pinned that inside the knot heart.

I think it turned out beautifully, albeit 4 months late!  Yes, our anniversary was in February, but I  had a temporary craft block and just couldn't think of the best way to do this.  Anyway, I love it, he loves it and the knot can now be displayed in our home as a reminder of our love.

I've seen these cute little mustaches and lips on sticks all over bloggy-land and finally decided to make a few for the kiddos.  I used a simple template to cut out the shapes from felt, then hot glued them onto small craft sticks.

I think they turned out really cute and were so quick and easy to put together!  And my kids have loved to use these quick disguises while playing.

Aren't they so mysterious?  Who are those kids?

Recycled Valentine Crayons

I bought these silicone heart shaped trays from the Target dollar bins a few years ago.  I'm pretty sure I've seen them at our Dollar Store too.  These were perfect for making heart shaped recycled crayons for Valentine's Day.

The first thing you need to do is set your oven to preheat to 200 degrees.  While the oven is preheating, choose the colors you want to use for your crayons.  The better quality of the crayon, the better it will melt and hold together.  Peel the paper from your crayons and break them into small pieces.

Place the broken crayons, into the tray.  You can group like colors together or mix them.

Place the silicone trays onto a cookie sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes, keeping a careful eye on the melting process.  When the crayons look fully melted, remove them from the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes, then pop them out of the mold.

I used glue dots to attach them to small cardstock cards as Valentine's for my daughter's preschool class.  We also put some in a goodie bag, tied off with ribbon, to give to the teacher for the class to use.

Beanbag Chair Cover

My son loves his beanbag chair, but the cover has been tearing and now those little filling beads have started spilling out all over the place.

Since I had some leftover boy fabric, I decided to try my hand at making a cover.  I used some cotton flannel Matchbox fabric and lightweight denim fabric (leftover from curtains I had to hem).  I cut them into equal size rectangular panels, 3 of each and stitched them together.

Next, I used another piece of the denim fabric to create a circle that would connect all the panels at the top.  Instead of doing another circle piece on the bottom, I created a hem and added a drawstring.  This would allow for easy removal of the cover if it needed washing.

This was one of the easiest projects I've done and I'm really pleased with how it turned out.  My son is happy to have his beanbag chair back.
